Teaching My Daughter "The Game of Kings" to Build Strong Families
Over the past few weeks, I've been teaching my 6-year-old daughter chess. But as we sit across from each other, moving pieces on the board, it's clear this isn’t just a game. It’s a lesson in life, in leadership, and in the kind of partnership that builds strong families. Today, she is my princess, but one day she will be a queen. My hope is to guide her in understanding what that truly means—how to choose a husband who leads with purpose, just as she will, together building a kingdom that stands the test of time.
Each piece on the board represents more than strategy; it represents decisions, roles, and a legacy. When she asked me which piece was the most powerful, I told her without hesitation, “The king.” But her surprise—because the queen moves freely—sparked a deeper lesson: sometimes the most powerful figure is the one who moves with quiet purpose. Just like in a marriage, where the balance of power lies not in one person but in the way both protect and uplift each other.
