A Response to Obama’s Remarks on Black Men and Kamala Harris

I was deeply offended when President Barack Obama recently addressed Black men’s supposed hesitancy to vote for Kamala Harris because she is a Black woman. The assumption that our reluctance comes from some discomfort with a Black woman in power is misguided. Who exactly is he talking to? Some say, "He wasn't talking to you—he was talking to them." But I ask, who is they? The working-class men who’ve labored to keep this country running? The same men who have supported progressive policies and gender equality more than any other group of men?
